FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions the office is asked most. For anything not covered here, call 352-672-6339.
Appointments
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. The practice is currently accepting adults 18 and over. Call or email the office for intake forms, or download them from this website and return the completed forms by email. After reviewing your paperwork and verifying your insurance benefits, if applicable, the office will call you to discuss appointment availability and the new patient deposit. See Becoming a patient for the forms and instructions.
Do you offer virtual visits?
Yes. Established patients can be seen by secure video at doxy.me/drjingliu. Whether a first appointment can be by video is decided case by case. It depends on what your insurance covers. Ask when you inquire, or when the office calls you to schedule. Confirm virtual-visit coverage with your insurer before each appointment. If your plan does not cover the visit, you are responsible for the full self-pay rate.
How long are appointments?
New patient appointments are 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are 20–30 minutes.
What if I need to cancel?
Please give at least one business day’s notice. With insufficient notice, or for a missed appointment, a non-refundable $195 fee is charged, as insurance cannot be billed for an appointment that did not take place. It is a charge, and is separate from any deposit you have paid. Arriving more than ten minutes late may mean you cannot be seen, and is treated the same way.
What should I do in an emergency?
This office does not provide emergency services. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room. This website is not monitored and cannot be used to reach the practice urgently. Email is not monitored continuously. Call 352-672-6339 for anything urgent that is not an emergency.
Medication and records
Is medication management available at your practice?
Yes. The practice provides ongoing medication management. Dr. Liu is a board certified psychiatrist. As a medical doctor, she can prescribe medication when clinically appropriate and review how treatment is working over time.
How do I request a prescription refill?
Each prescription is written to last until your next appointment, so a refill should not normally be needed in between. If you run short, first ask your pharmacy whether any refills remain. If none remain, call 352-672-6339.
How do I request my medical records?
Call 352-672-6339 to request medical records.
Can I email the office?
Yes. Email is often the quickest way to reach the office, and it is the channel used for new patient paperwork. For anything urgent, call 352-672-6339 instead. Email is not monitored continuously. In an emergency, call 911, or 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Insurance and billing
Which insurance plans do you accept?
Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Oscar, Original Medicare, Plans managed by Optum, Tricare, United Healthcare, and self-pay. Not accepted: Medicare replacement plans, including Medicare Advantage plans; BlueMedicare Complete (HMO D-SNP); Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) program; MyBlue; Freedom Health Plan; United Healthcare Dual Complete; Medicaid, including replacement plans such as Staywell. This is not a complete list of plans we do not accept. Even if your plan is not listed here, please call the office to confirm whether we accept it. Plans and benefits vary. Please confirm your specific coverage with the office before your first appointment.
Why is there a deposit for new patients?
The one-time deposit is $50 with insurance or $200 if you are paying for your own care. It holds your one-hour new patient appointment with Dr. Liu and is applied toward your copay, or refunded in full if your insurance results in a zero-dollar copay. It is forfeited if you miss the appointment or cancel late.
What will a visit cost?
It depends on whether you are using insurance. Your insurance plan sets your copay, and the office may not know the amount before your first visit. For current self-pay rates, call 352-672-6339. Self-pay patients may also request a written Good Faith Estimate before care. The $200 self-pay deposit is applied toward the cost of your first appointment.
How do I pay my bill?
Balances can be paid online through the practice’s payment service, InstaMed, which opens in a new tab. On the payment page, the Patient ID field is required. Enter your date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY) in that field. Card details are entered and stored on InstaMed’s secure J.P. Morgan page, not this website. You can also pay by calling 352-672-6339, or by check at the office. If you cannot pay a balance in full, call 352-672-6339. The office will arrange a payment plan based on what you can manage.
