Dr. Liu is a psychiatrist specializing in adult psychiatry, board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
Before her psychiatry residency at the University of Florida, Dr. Liustudied neurobiology and completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford in neurology and neurosurgery. Her research focused on how brain cells survive oxygen deprivation and oxidative stress.
She earned her medical degree at Tianjin Medical University and practiced for three years as a physician in the Department of Neurology at Hexi Hospital of Tianjin Municipality, treating neurology patients, before coming to research in the United States. Throughout her residency in Gainesville she volunteered as a physician at the Helping Hands Clinic, work recognized in two consecutive years with the Richard Christensen, M.D. Community Service Award.
